Every Christmas I make self-portraits in front of the Christmas tree to touch base with myself.  How am I feeling this Christmas?  Happy, nostalgic, lonely, sad, creative? What did the past year bring?

My mother loved Christmas. She loved every holiday actually, but she tried to make Christmas particularly special for us every year perhaps because we had lost our father when I was nine; she wanted our lives to feel normal.

So I was taught to savor this holiday and now my daughter has taken this love for Christmas to wonderful extremes. For Sydney, every day is Christmas.
